A pretty neat article from Domain Consultant

Some interesting points

“…2008 is looking, in many ways, like 2001-2002 except this time the crisis is larger, global and based in excessive debt outside the technology spectrum…

So what is an individual investor to do? If money is not safe in banks - where to put it? One possible answer, like in the early decade, is domain names. For several, concrete reasons:

1. Domains are a global commodity. The Internet is not a singular institution, country or entity that can fail. It has a growing yet solidified place in a globalized, developing future.
2. Domain names are not debt-based, benefitting from economic downturns and instability.
3. Domains are inexpensive, intangible assets requiring little to no maintenance or overhead. Annual renewals have dropped to under $10.
4. Unlike Lehman Brothers or Mac and Mae, the Internet is not going anywhere but up – especially with the next item as consideration.
5. Energy issues/prices and depleted discretionary income will drive usage of the Internet as entertainment, news source, global connective, energy-savings source.
6. The normal ‘hedge’ in these times is ‘gold’ but at nearly $900 per ounce, it is a prohibitive investment vehicle. And note, during the Great Depression, the government seized precious metals from its citizenry.

DomainConsultant.com recently updated its market recommendation to clientele from ‘hold’ to ‘buy’. The change was made for many of the above reasons and based in no small part in current crisis events. Unless it all collapses, domains and the Internet are viewed as one of the most reliable and secure ‘safe harbors’ - if the name is quality, acquired at a proper price.”

What to do with your Domains??? make some $$$

Written by admin on October 11th, 2008

During the 90’s people have been registering domains because they could use it in the future to make a quick buck or two or even develop a website out of it. But during the mean while the domains is Registered what to do with it? The best thing to do is either one of the following 2, A) Build a website and Promoting the Right keywords to your website with ADS or B) Park your DOMAIN and receive profits, both are way beneficial then just have the domain registered and doing nothing at all with it.

A) Basically best thing I like doing is creating a blog with ads. If my website is about limousines and I have domain limo.com I would simply create a website with a Blog talking about new limousines. Take about 2 to 3 minutes out of my daily time find something very interesting, perhaps a video on YOUTUBE talk about it and post it on my blog. This way you build page rank to your website and make more money you were going to then it just sitting there or being parked.

B) I know many people just don’t have the time to build a website for every single domain they have registered then best thing is getting your domain parked. You could see one of my domains it’s being parked with SEDO, www.extermined.com you could see they basically display various Ads and when a visitor visits the website they simply click the ad and I receive money. Even though I could make more money, SEDO takes some money as well for hosting and creating the parked page which you could have done your self in the first place. However these are some of the famous domain parking websites:.

Google from 2001

Written by admin on October 10th, 2008

Google has released a copy of Google’s Index from 2001. It is the oldest one they got with the index size of 1.3 Million URL’s in 2001.

Its quite fun when you start searching for popular terms on Google and you don’t find any such as “Ipod”, “facebook”, and so on.

Its actually also a great thing if you search for random items on Google’s Old index and find Dead Domains that you might be interested in Registering,

Heres the Link: http://www.google.com/search2001.html

Google Does not like .biz while Yahoo is fine with it

Written by admin on October 9th, 2008

So I have two domains one domain I got was a .com name and was one a .biz name. The .biz name was the same name as the keyword I was trying to achieve on search engines. I search engine optimized both websites with the same back links and so on. The content was very similar but not identical. So after a few months Guess what Google shows my .com website on the first page for the key word I was targeting, while my .biz is no where to be found when I use my keyword. I then Checked out and to be astonished my .biz is on the first page before my .com. So this is quite odd that Google actually does look at the domain extension for some reason. I am going to keep working on the .biz and see what results come up and will keep you guys posted.

Ebay Has Gone Down the Toilet

Written by admin on October 6th, 2008

Seller Non-Performance Policy is useless and crap, buyers can destroy a seller within minutes while a seller has no option but to take that negative feedback and get blackmailed by buyers so they won’t receive a negative feedback. One of our Clients was just suspended because his accord had more then 5% of complaints which is quite ridiculous if you ask me. He received 30 Positive feedback in the past 30 days and 2 of buyers left a negative feedback, with a feedback still of 97% he was suspended. Due to the fact he had more then 5% of complaints, they suspended him closed all his auction.
